Certified Nurse Assistant Training Program

The Priscare Wellness Certified Nurse Assistant program is a four-month-long course that Umala Mission offers.

This course takes you through the fundamentals of being a nurse assistant.

The first two months are theory and class-based.

Classes are Monday to Friday for eight hours daily.

The practicals entail day and night shifts that average 11hrs long, 3 or 4 days a week.

This experience gives students enough time to practice and understand the field exhaustively.

 CLASSES

Among the many subjects taught, you learn Human Anatomy and Physiology and the fundamentals of the Nursing Aide.

The Human Anatomy class empowers you with an understanding of the structure and functioning of the human body.

For example, you will learn that cells – the basic units of life, are connected to form tissues, which form organs, the organs network to create complex organ systems. The organ systems collaborate to enable intricate body processes, such as digestion and movement.

An example of a body system is the endocrine System that comprises networked glands (organs) that secrete hormones, which control the whole body’s functioning. Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology is vital in informing nursing care decisions, routines and practices.

The Nursing Assistant Unit tackles a nurse aid’s responsibilities, ethics, and codes of conduct. It teaches integral topics like the need for confidentiality and privacy and the importance of teamwork.

Additionally, visiting nurses teach practical lessons such as; vitals sign assessments and personal care.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT

Learning Basic Life Support is part of the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) course. This course follows the current guidelines of the American Heart Association.

PRACTICLES

Lastly, the practical lessons are attended at a reputable nearby hospital that aims at customer-centered care and offers students an impeccable chance to understand the nature of healthcare.

The hospital starts the day with a motivating morning prayer, which inspires empathy and compassion, which are crucial values in nursing.

Summarily, the facilities’ organizational culture is transformational and inspiring to students in many ways.

GRADUATION

The graduation ceremony is the icing on the cake.

The gowns symbolize new hope and infinite opportunities in a viable and competitive career.

This optimism is at the heart of the Priscare Wellness, Umala mission. Giving back to society- giving hope and direction, leaving peoples’ hearts fuller and lives transformed.

HOW CNA’s CONTRIBUTE TO SOCIETY

There are many roles that a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) can offer to the job market.
A CNA can do data collection, reception of the patient, checking their health insurance, measuring weight, height, vital signs, and pain reporting.

They can dress minor wounds and assist the nurse with other tasks in a hospital setting -or outpatient setting.
They can travel with sick patients for long distances, and they can also do excellent emergency care that needs Basic Life Support skills.

Well-trained Nurse Assistants offer health and personal care, emotional support, and companionship to the elderly.

As humans, we are social beings, and we thrive when we make healthy connections with each other. Research points that healthy companionship with the elderly positively reduces the risk of mental issues such as; anxiety and depression and the occurrence and progression of Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
